What are Engineering Plastics?
Engineering plastic materials are essential pre-processed components for many industries. They take the form of versatile rods, sheets, tubes or profiles. Made of polymerised materials such as PTFE, PA6, PE HDPE and PVC, they offer practical solutions.
These materials, available in a wide range of diameters, formats and thicknesses, reduce the need for complex machining from scratch. Larosi Srl offers these products to turn ideas into concrete realities. Their intermediate nature makes them perfect for customised machining. Imagine a resistant material that adapts to every production requirement. This is the heart of plastic semi-finished products, indispensable in many sectors.

Key Properties of Engineering Plastics
These materials adapt to precise cutting and shaping. Available in various forms, they are easily integrated into existing processes. In fact, ‘semi-finished products’ get this name because they are supplied in physical formats that are already pre-processed and pre-formed, ready for further machining or used directly in various applications.
The formats available in our extensive range include, for example:
- Round: cylindrical profile bars, ideal for turning and milling.
- Sheets: available in various formats and precisely calibrated thicknesses, perfect for cutting and shaping.
- Sheets: thicknesses of less than 1 mm, flexible and suitable for light machining or coating.
- Rolls: supplied for applications requiring continuity or flexibility of use.
- Perforated tubes: round bars with a central hole, useful for hydraulic or structural components.
- Hexagonal or square profile bars: designed for specific machining operations or as bases for mechanical elements.
- Cut strips: ready-made sections for specific uses or quick assembly.
These formats, thanks to their versatility and standardisation of dimensions, simplify production processes, reducing preparation times and providing a reliable basis for finished components in various industrial sectors.

Engineering plastics offer practical solutions for detail-oriented engineers
Technoplastics ensure high performance in difficult environments. The characteristics of engineering plastics make them unique for material-specific technical applications.
For example, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is characterised by its extraordinary resistance to high temperatures of up to 260°C and its self-lubricating properties, which drastically reduce surface friction. This makes it ideal for applications where exceptional smoothness is required, such as seals or non-stick coatings.
PVC (polyvinyl chloride), on the other hand, excels in resistance to aggressive chemicals, such as acids, bases and salts, while maintaining its structural integrity even in corrosive environments, making it widely used in piping and chemical-industrial components.
PA6 (polyamide 6), on the other hand, offers high mechanical strength and remarkable fatigue resilience, making it perfect for the production of components under continuous stress, such as gears or structural supports.
Finally, HDPE (high density polyethylene) is characterised by its low friction coefficient and excellent durability, especially in dynamic applications. Also available in a ‘food grade’ version that complies with food contact regulations, it is a preferred choice for containers, work surfaces or piping in the food industry.
These materials, with their special features, specifically meet the needs of different sectors, guaranteeing reliable performance and tailor-made solutions.
Choosing these components is synonymous with efficiency and flexibility. They meet the challenges of those who seek excellence without compromise. Relying on them means choosing quality and innovation.
Applications in Various Industry Sectors

Semi-finished plastic products are used in a wide variety of areas. PTFE sheets coat chemical plants against corrosion. PVC sheets are indispensable for industry, especially in electroplating.
The food industry also uses technoplastic semi-finished products for hygienic surfaces. HDPE sheets, suitable for food contact, are the primary component of chopping boards and worktops for supermarkets, bakeries, butcher shops and food laboratories.
PA6 becomes part of strong and durable automotive gears. In electronics, they isolate circuits with guaranteed effectiveness and safety.
Semi-finished plastics, such as PTFE or PA6, adapt to gears, bushings and other parts. Thanks to their flexibility, they meet different requirements effectively. This makes them ideal for light or heavy machinery without any problems.
Their versatility makes them valuable allies for every project.
Our speed of delivery makes us valuable allies for every project.
