Mounting

The rubber is vulcanised between two steel plates. Sometimes it is only on one plate. The plates have cylindrical tangs or threaded holes in the centre. This allows for quick and easy attachment. They are versatile and inexpensive vibration dampers. They are used with light to medium masses. They work well in compression. Forces act along the axis of the tangs or holes. Shear resistance is limited. Beware of improper stresses, such as belt pulling.
Elastomers
The standard compound is natural rubber (NR). It has three hardnesses: 43° ShA (W), 57° ShA (M), 68° ShA. The tolerance is ± 3° ShA. Natural rubber offers excellent anti-vibration elastic properties. For special conditions, other elastomers are used.
