Where Polypropylene sheets are used
Polypropylene sheets cover very different needs depending on the sector. Here are the main areas in which our customers use them.
Chemical industry and water treatment. Solid sheets are machined for tanks, containment basins and components in contact with aggressive substances. The chemical resistance of the material also makes them suitable for linings and internal protections of plants.
Food and pharmaceutical industry. Smooth and easy-to-sanitize surfaces make polypropylene suitable for production lines, hoppers and components in contact with food [confirm availability of grades certified for food contact].
Manufacturing and OEM. Many companies use polypropylene sheets as raw material for turned or milled components to drawing, when lightness and chemical resistance are needed together.
Construction and technical installations. Honeycomb sheets, lighter for the same thickness, are chosen for panelling, temporary construction site protections and structures where weight affects transport and assembly costs.
Resellers and distributors. If you resell technical components, we work with you on scheduled supplies and customized quantities, with the possibility of cutting formats according to the requests of your end customers.
Polypropylene Sheets
The sheets are divided into two categories, each designed for different needs.
Solid sheets. They have a compact and homogeneous structure. They are chosen when mechanical strength, chemical resistance or precisely machinable surfaces are required.
Honeycomb sheets. The internal channel structure makes them much lighter for the same thickness. They are the ideal solution when weight affects logistics costs or when good thermal insulation is needed without weighing down the structure.

Why choose Larosi for Polypropylene Sheets
For over fifty years we have been supplying technical components and semi-finished materials to the B2B market. For polypropylene we make available:
- immediate availability on a wide range of formats and diameters
- custom cutting and machining according to customer specifications
- fast shipping via the main national couriers
- technical support for identifying the product most suitable for the project
Custom cutting with professional panel saw
Every sheet is cut with an automatic vertical panel saw Putsch Meniconi SVP 145, the same machine we use for all custom machining of plastic materials. The digital reading system of the dimensions guarantees precision in the order of hundredths of a millimetre.
This means you receive ready-to-use pieces, without the need for further machining in the workshop. Squaring and trimming complete the service, leaving clean edges and perfectly perpendicular corners.
To learn in detail how the cutting works, what the maximum workable dimensions are and how the price is calculated, you can consult the dedicated page.

Polypropylene or another engineering plastic? How to choose
Polypropylene is not always the most suitable material. Here is when it is advisable to evaluate an alternative.
- Do you need impact resistance at low temperatures? PP loses strength below zero. PE HDPE maintains better performance in this case.
- Does the project require resistance to organic solvents? PP is strongly attacked by some hydrocarbons. Materials such as PTFE offer superior chemical resistance.
- Is high structural rigidity required? PA6 offers a higher elastic modulus than PP, at the expense of a higher cost.
- Is budget a determining factor? PP remains among the most economical engineering plastics for equivalent chemical performance.
Not sure which material to choose for your application? Our technical support will evaluate with you the solution most suitable for the project.
Frequently asked questions
What is polypropylene and what is it used for?
Polypropylene is a thermoplastic plastic material obtained from the polymerization of propylene. It is chosen for its lightness, chemical resistance and ease of machining, in sectors ranging from chemistry to plant engineering, up to industrial components.
What is the difference between solid and honeycomb polypropylene sheets?
Solid sheets have a compact structure and greater mechanical strength. Honeycomb sheets have internal channels that reduce weight and improve thermal insulation, at the expense of lower mechanical strength.
What thicknesses of polypropylene sheets do you have in stock?
Our warehouse covers a wide range of thicknesses, both for solid and honeycomb sheets. If the required format is not available from stock, we cut it to specification quickly.
Is it possible to have polypropylene sheets cut to size?
Yes. We work with custom dimensions and thicknesses according to the customer’s drawing or specifications. This service is designed both for single orders and for scheduled supplies to resellers and distributors.
Do polypropylene sheets resist chemical agents?
Polypropylene resists dilute acids and alkalis well, both dilute and concentrated. Attention must instead be paid to contact with concentrated acids and organic solvents, which can attack the material.
How long does it take for polypropylene sheets to be shipped?
Thanks to the large stock in the warehouse, we handle fast shipping via the main national couriers. Times cover both recurring orders and urgent requests linked to production deadlines.
